Design Perspectives: The center needs new friends — and neighbors
A new, more park-like center is staged to emerge. But so far, it's still an island.
The Century 21 Master Plan is making the comment rounds now, with solid ideas for rearranging and de-cluttering Seattle Center, the beloved fairground that has become the city's living room.
This is not just a spruce-up. Like the last master plan for the center, it both affirms and re-imagines the place. It also carries a price tag of $676 million, and would require significant commitments from city government and taxpayers to pull off.
