Project of the Month: 'Mad Men'-era high school now works for millennials

A paved yard at Nathan Hale High School has been replaced by an urbane, park-like court that is surrounded by remnants of the original precast concrete panels.

As the millennial generation moved in, North Seattle's Nathan Hale High School — originally completed in 1963 — was holding up well structurally. But its aging mechanical and electrical systems were not, and the cast-in-place concrete skin looked oppressive.
