JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Conventional barges are headed to southeast Alaska this week as part of a Canadian company's plans to haul construction supplies up the Taku River to the Tulsequah Chief Mine.
The three barges, scheduled to arrive this week, aren't part of Vancouver-based Redcorp Ventures' controversial proposal to use amphibious hovercraft to ship supplies to the mine located about 40 miles northeast of Juneau.
