Metro GM: Transit is 'seriously in danger'

King County Metro is facing a $168 million budget deficit in the next biennium, and is looking at making big reductions in transit service, even though Metro ridership has increased by 20 percent over the past three years.
Sixty percent of Metro's budget comes from sales taxes, “a very volatile revenue source,” Metro's General Manager Kevin Desmond said at a Town Hall meeting Friday on the future of the region's transportation network.
