DETROIT (AP) -- Starbucks Coffee plans to open its first outlet in downtown Detroit in mid-September in the Buhl Building.
"Detroit's resurgence played a factor in the decision to open the downtown store," said Peggy Goodwin, regional marketing director for Seattle-based Starbucks. "Other Detroit stores will likely follow."
Downtown coffee drinkers were abuzz.
"We've heard rumors that Starbucks was coming," said Sue Adams, a secretary at a law firm located in the Buhl Building. "Some of the girls in the office are really excited about it, because now they won't have to walk down the street to get a cup of coffee."
