GIG HARBOR -- Tacoma Narrows Constructors, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge project design-build team, is expected to tear down several structures in Gig Harbor this week to make way for the second bridge linking Gig Harbor and Tacoma.
Houses at Stone Drive Northwest and 14th Street, and at 1811 Serena Lane Northwest are on the list, as well as the "Span Deli" building at 1508 Stone Drive and the Aqua Spa building at 1601 Stone Drive. Asbestos was removed last week from some of the structures.
Land clearing and demolition is part of project preparation. Construction is slated to begin next month. Cleared land will be used as work areas for the project.
