Medical building will honor Pat Steel

SEATTLE -- King County Executive Ron Sims announced Friday that a new facility for Harborview Medical Center will be named in honor of the late Deputy County Executive Patricia Steel.

Steel served the residents of King County for almost 30 years, starting as a psychiatric social work and then as manager of the facilities management division, budget director and chief financial officer. She died July 7.

The $62.5 million 158,000-square-foot building, under construction at 401 Broadway, will house general offices and medical support space. Work began in December 2002 and will be completed in summer 2004. Opus Northwest is the developer.
