An $86 million seismic upgrade of the King County Courthouse, that included several types of bracing, was the other big award winner.

The Northwest Construction Consumer Council recently presented its 2004 Distinguished Project Awards and the Patrick K. Lyneis Memorial Safety Excellence Awards.
BP's Cherry Point Refinery clean gasoline project in Bellingham won the top award for private sector projects over $10 million. The team was led by Doug Freymeyer, BP senior project manager. Participating firms included Jacobs, Anvil Corp., J.H. Kelly, Matrix Service and PowerTek Electric.
The King County Courthouse seismic renovation project took top honors for public sector projects over $10 million. King County Facilities Management Division led the project. The team included Seneca Real Estate Group, Coughlin Porter Lundeen, and Skanska.
Two projects received honorable mention: the new U.S. Federal Courthouse and the King County Renton Transfer Station roof replacement project.
The courthouse project was managed by the United States General Services Administration. The team included NBBJ and Absher Construction.

The awards were presented Nov. 9 at NWCCC's 2004 Annual Conference.
