Project of the Week: Lee Center for the Arts

Seattle University completed a $6.8 million renovation of a 1930s concrete and wood-frame structure at 12th Avenue and East Marion Street in February.
The 22,000-square-foot former auto showroom is now the Lee Center for the Arts, a 150-seat theater and art gallery.
The building includes costume and scene shops, dressing and green rooms, and a 1,400-square-foot lobby and art gallery.
Underslab drainage was installed in the basement to prevent groundwater flooding.

The center's brick, metal and glass cladding was designed to make the building compatible with other campus buildings and to create an inviting face for the university.
