Developer recycling nearly all of Kapalua Bay Hotel

LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Nearly all of the materials from the destroyed Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui will be recycled, according to the resort.

An estimated 98 percent of materials from the demolished hotel — amounting to 43,708 tons — are being used primarily in the new Kapalua Bay development, said David Cole, chairman and president of Maui Land & Pineapple, the parent company of Kapalua Resort.
