LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Increased competition from Canada and a dip in new home construction in the United States has lumber mill officials in northcentral Idaho concerned about possible shutdowns, though so far that step has been avoided.
“Prices are not good at all and we'll have to watch that,” said Calvin Hogg, chief financial officer at Three Rivers Timber, which employs about 190 people in Kamiah, Idaho. “Nobody is very happy where things are.”
