After months of fighting a pitched battle over the fate of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, Governor Chris Gregoire and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels held up an olive branch yesterday after Seattle voters decisively rejected both Gregoire's elevated highway and Nickels' four-lane tunnel.
At 4:30 p.m. yesterday, the vote was running 70 percent against the tunnel and 56 percent against the elevated highway.
