Judge to decide fate of Eastern Oregon movie theater

  • The owner is at odds with Baker County, which shut down the historic theater last summer because it lacks fire sprinklers.
  • BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — The fate of the only movie theater in Baker County may be decided late this week.

    The historical Eltrym Theater has been the star of its own drama lately. Eltrym owner Rudyard Coltman added two screens to the original theater in 1998, but he did not add fire sprinklers. The city shut it down in August, saying it was a dangerous building. Its doors have remained closed for business since then.
