Parents chip in for new playground

The playground at Seattle’s Lafayette Elementary School is mostly asphalt.

Four years ago, a small group of Lafayette Elementary School parents decided it was time for a major upgrade to Lafayette's aging two-acre asphalt playground. One of the parents even remarked that the custodian has to mow the grass that grows between the cracks in the asphalt.
