Oregon House passes school construction bill

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Schools districts from Beaverton to Bend could soon have a new way to pay for new classrooms to house the dozens of new students who crowd into the fast-growing districts each September.

On a 50-9 vote, members of the Oregon House signed off Monday on a proposal to allow school boards to levy a construction tax without first seeking voter approval.
