HONOLULU (AP) — The University of Hawaii may become home to a national disaster preparedness training center for the Department of Homeland Security, Sen. Daniel Inouye said Friday.
The creation of the training center is authorized in a conference report that was overwhelmingly approved by the Senate on Thursday. The report is now awaiting final approval by the House before being considered by President Bush.
