$190M prison opens near Madras, Oregon

MADRAS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's 14th state prison opened for business this week.

The Deer Ridge Correctional Institution accepted 35 minimum-security inmates on Monday, said Parrish Van Wert, community development director for the $190 million prison east of Madras.
