Tacoma supports roads, transit plan

TACOMA — The Tacoma City Council voted 6-1 Tuesday to support Proposition 1, the $17.8 billion (2006 dollars) roads and transit plan for Pierce, King and Snohomish counties.

If voters approve the plan in November, Pierce County will get the funding to finish Highway 167, begin building the controversial cross-base highway, improve state Route 162 and extend light rail to the Tacoma Dome.
