Association elects new officers

  • The Associated General Contractors of Washington on Friday installed its 2008 officers at its annual meeting in Seattle. The new leaders include:
  • Barger
    Steve Barger

    President

    Steve Barger is president of Northwest Cascade in Puyallup. Northwest Cascade performs civil and geotechnical construction, is one of the largest U.S. suppliers of portable sanitation with 26,000 Honey Bucket toilets, and provides septic pumping and drain cleaning services. Barger joined Northwest Cascade in 1992 as operations manager, becoming vice president in 1994 and president in 1996. In addition to his role as AGC president, Barger is treasurer of the Tacoma Art Museum board of trustees and secretary of the Chambers Creek Foundation board. He was formerly on the Executive Committee of the Williams College Society of Alumni.

    Kilcup
    Lee Kilcup

    First Vice President

    Lee Kilcup is CEO of GLY Construction. Kilcup became vice president of operations for GLY in 1989 and vice president of operations and estimating in 1991. In 1999, he was promoted to senior vice president and became president two years later. In addition to his service on the AGC's board, Kilcup has served as president of the AGC Education Foundation. Other activities at the AGC include Labor Committee chair, Finance and Building Committee member and WALECET (Washington Laborers Employers Cooperation and Education Team) board member. He has been active on the advisory board for WSU Architecture and Construction Management, the board of directors for Olalla Guest Lodge, and the building committees for Sahalee Country Club and Timberlake Christian Fellowship.

    Zamzow

    Tom Zamzow

    2nd Vice President

    Since 2001, Tom Zamzow has been manager of Washington operations for Wilder Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Granite Construction. Zamzow has 18 years of construction experience in Nevada, California and Washington. He began his career as an estimator with Granite Construction Co. in Reno. He is an active member of the AGC of Washington, including service on its Transportation Task Force. Zamzow is also on the board of directors of the Washington Asphalt Paving Association, and served as that association's president in 2006.

    Hardy

    Van Hardy

    Secretary/Treasurer

    Van Hardy is retired vice president and CFO for GLY Construction. Hardy's diverse background includes professional training and experience in the areas of finance, accounting, management information systems, job-cost information systems, computerized critical path scheduling, administration, and personnel management. His AGC of Washington involvement includes service as chair of the Workers' Compensation Group Retro Committee. He has been involved with the AGC of America, the Carpenter's Trusts and the Construction Financial Management Association.

    D'Hondt

    David D'Hondt

    Immediate Past President

    David D'Hondt is the director of safety and risk management for Absher Construction, where he started his career more than 17 years ago. He served as president of AGC of Washington in 2007. Other AGC of Washington service includes two terms as chair of the AGC Safety Committee. In addition, D'Hondt serves as an employer representative on the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council and the South Puget Sound Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. He is a member on the Governor's Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board.
