SR 28 closing for rock slope work

WENATCHEE (AP) — The Washington State Department of Transportation will close state Route 28 late this week between East Wenatchee and Quincy continue work on stabilizing a rocky slope above the roadway.

Transportation crews will close the road on Friday night and reopen the highway at 5 a.m. on April 2. It's the third phase of an $8.5 million project that started in 2002. Crews will remove potentially dangerous rock, then later this summer install steel nets over the slope.
