Virtual fence on hold in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Officials say construction on “virtual fence” projects scheduled along Arizona's border with Mexico is on hold indefinitely because the Interior Department hasn't signed off on use of its lands.

Federal officials say the Interior Department refused to accept a proposed U.S. Border Patrol environmental assessment that said putting towers on its lands would have no significant impact.
