EUGENE, Ore. — Randy Pape, president and CEO of The Pape Group since 1983, died Thursday.
His grandfather, E.C. Pape, founded the company in 1938.Randy Pape built The Pape Group into a holding company of six entities that sell and service heavy equipment, material handling equipment and corporate aircraft in seven western states.
Pape was also president and board chairman for Liberty Financial Group, a financial services company he helped found in 1972 and the holding company of LibertyBank.
“While Randy endured an 11-year battle with cancer, it is important to note that he beat the disease,” his family said in a prepared statement. “The fact that he was cancer-free is a testament to the tenacity of a man who fought a vicious disease with everything he had.”
Donations in Pape's honor can be sent to: The University of Oregon Foundation, P.O. Box 3346, Eugene, OR 97403-0346; or The Sacred Heart Foundation, P.O. Box 10905, Eugene, OR 97440.
