Surface street cheapest option to replace Alaskan Way viaduct

A surface street would be the cheapest replacement for the central section of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, costing between $800 million and $900 million, according to bare bones cost estimates released yesterday by the viaduct project team, which consists of transportation officials from the state, King County and Seattle.
