Sound Transit wants input on route choices for East Link line

Three of the six possible routes for East Link through Bellevue involve tunnels. This one is the most expensive at $1.6 billion in 2007 dollars. Right-of-way costs for this tunnel are high and two of its three stations would be underground. Also, this tunnel would require specialized mining under the Bellevue Art Museum, said East Link project manager Don Billen.

With 19 different routes to choose from, there are a lot of decisions to be made before Sound Transit can pick an alignment for East Link.
