Nooksack bridge getting new paint

GLACIER, Whatcom County — The Washington State Department of Transportation yesterday was to close a lane of the Mount Baker Highway near Glacier for three months so that crews can repair and repaint the Nooksack River bridge.

Purcell Painting and Coatings of Seattle is the contractor for the $518,400 job. Later this month, Purcell will shroud the bridge with shrink-wrap to keep debris from falling into the river and to allow workers to keep busy regardless of weather conditions.
