Crews finish $15M I-5 job near Kelso

KELSO, Cowlitz County — Contractor Granite Northwest of Camas earlier this week wrapped up a $15 million improvement project on Interstate 5 between north Kelso and Castle Rock. Federal stimulus funds paid for about $9.5 million of the work.

The project rehabilitated nearly 14 miles of the freeway and added some guardrails and signs. Workers repaired or replaced about 180 damaged concrete panels and paved the northbound lanes of I-5 between Ostrander Creek and the Toutle River Bridge vicinity. Many of the panels were more than 40 years old.
