Cowlitz County halts couple's attempt to save barn

  • The Building and Planning Department says the 90-year-old barn is “new construction” because it's being relocated and reassembled.

    LONGVIEW, Cowlitz County — All Rena Bellika wanted was a barn. Finding a classic one that “looked like a barn should” was a bonus.

    Bellika and her husband, Kent, found and bought an old barn on Hayes Road, just over the Clark County line in Woodland. They disassembled the barn, moved it to their Dike Road home northwest of Woodland and started putting it back together late last year.
