HUD awards $5.1M for self-help homes

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development last week awarded more than $5.1 million to Community Frameworks for self-help housing units in the Northwest. The nonprofit has offices in Bremerton and Spokane.

Community Frameworks plans to use the funds and volunteer labor to build at least 290 housing units in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana.
