WSDOT and BP to build roundabout

BLAINE, Whatcom County — The Washington State Department of Transportation and the oil company BP are partnering to build a roundabout on state Route 548 at the intersection of Grandview and Blaine roads. BP will pay for the roundabout, while WSDOT will oversee its design and construction.

Currently, the intersection is controlled by stop signs and is a bottleneck for drivers, especially during shift changes at the nearby BP refinery. Construction will begin this summer and should be complete in the fall.
