An arbitration panel this week issued a decision in a long-standing dispute between Sound Transit and light rail contractor RCI-Herzog. The contractor was seeking another $137 million in payment, but instead will receive approximately $66 million.
The joint venture built the 4.3-mile segment through Seattle's Rainier Valley. Sound Transit officials said based on the agency's audit, RCI-Herzog likely lost $29 million on the job, which had a baseline budget of $174 million but ended up costing $204.5 million.
