Dredging to start on Swinomish Channel
LA CONNER, Skagit County — The Port of Skagit on Sept. 18 is holding a ceremony to mark the start of dredging of the Swinomish Navigation Channel.
American Construction Co. of Tacoma won a $1.88 million contract from the Army Corps of Engineers to do the work. American will move in its dredge before the event and start work the next day. The corps wants the project finished by the mid-February 2013 fish window.
