SEATTLE — Erin Zarafshan of Vancouver is the winner of the Kindle Fire HD in the DJC's Building of the Year contest. Zarafshan's vote was one of 13,880 cast for the winner, the Paul G. Allen Center for Global Animal Health at Washington State University.
Zarafshan is an English language learner instructor for K-8 students in the Camas School District. She graduated from WSU in 1992.
A total of 35,404 votes were cast in the contest, which turned into a tight race between the WSU project, with 39 percent of the vote, and the UW Husky Union Building renovation, with 36 percent of the vote.
The winning project team was led by ZGF and Bouten Construction Co.
