Oregon gold mine clears initial permitting hurdle

VALE, Ore. (AP) — A company that plans a gold mine and mill in Eastern Oregon has gotten the go-ahead from a state agency to collect information for its permit application.

The Argus Observer of Ontario reports that the state Department of Geology and Mineral Industries is handing the permit process. It has approved the way the company plans to gather data.
