Crews on Monday began tearing down a former Petco store in West Seattle to make room for an 88-unit apartment building at 4730 California Ave. S.W.
When finished in fall 2014, the building will have 13 live-work units and nearly 5,000 square feet of retail wrapping around the north corner and extending into a new mid-block pedestrian connector.
Weber Thompson is the architect, interior designer and landscape architect. Compass Construction is the general contractor.
The Wolff Co. of Scottsdale, Ariz., is the developer. Wolff, a real estate equity firm, has been busy in Seattle lately, with other projects planned or underway on Capitol Hill (270 units and retail), South Lake Union (210 units and retail), Columbia City (270 units) and the Pike/Pine corridor (92 units).
