Culvert replacement will close SR 162 this weekend
The Washington State Department of Transportation on Friday night will close state Route 162 for three miles between Pioneer Way East and Old Military Road East so that it can replace two culverts. The road east of the Washington State Fair in Puyallup will reopen early Monday morning.
During the closure, crews working near Ball Creek will remove the highway surface and two 2-foot culverts beneath it. Then they will install a new 12-foot concrete box culvert and repave the highway.
