WSDOT painting Nooksack bridges

BELLINGHAM — Work has started on what could be a two-year project to paint two bridges on Interstate 5 over the Nooksack River in Whatcom County.

Dunkin & Bush, Inc. has a contract for $4.6 million to do the work, which will involve wrapping both steel bridges in plastic to keep debris out of the water. Lanes have been narrowed and speeds have been reduced to 60 mph.
