FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — More than 5,000 containers of hazardous material were collected as part of the response to the 2013 flooding that devastated Galena, according to a state report.
The containers ranged from aerosol cans to 55-gallon drums, with the hazardous debris strewn within a 15-mile radius of the Yukon River village. Galena is about 270 miles by air west of Fairbanks.
