Three firms vie for $13M Sounder yard

SEATTLE — Sound Transit has shortlisted three firms for the $12.65 million second phase of construction at Lakewood Century Yard, where Sounder commuter trains serving the south corridor are stored.

The design-build project will construct a third layover track, a rail crew building, signaling and other equipment.

The finalists are Walsh Construction Co., Stacy and Witbeck, and Shimmick Construction Co. They will develop proposals for the work.

Sound Transit expects to start preliminary engineering this summer.
