    CRESWELL, Ore. — Frustrated city officials are trying to jump-start the redevelopment of a prominent former veneer mill site that has sat unused for years.

    The 42-acre property immediately west of Interstate 5 was put up for sale after a major fire in 2008 that closed the Bald Knob mill, an employer of about 100 people. But the property, with its neglected buildings, its former log ponds and its open expanses of asphalt, hasn’t drawn a buyer.
