Lincoln High School in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood hasn't been a full-on school since it was closed in 1981. It has been an interim site for students while their schools were undergoing renovations or replacements.

Seattle Schools, anticipating growth in the area, is converting the 250,000-square-foot building at 4400 Interlake Ave. N. back into a permanent high school for 1,600 students.

The district is seeking qualifications by April 20 from general contractor/construction manager firms. The preliminary maximum construction cost is $50.77 million, not including a 5 percent contingency and $300,000 in negotiated support services.

A pre-proposal conference for GC/CMs will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at the school. The district will create a shortlist on April 27 and interview those firms on May 10. Finalists will submit their price proposals by May 18 and a winner will be announced the next day.

The school board on June 15 will decide to approve or reject the contractor.

Lincoln will be mostly vacated by July 2017 and the renovation will be finished by the summer of 2019.

The GC/CM will also provide pre-construction services and improvements to the 6.7-acre site.

Bassetti Architects is leading the design team. Mike Finnegan of Heery International is the project manager and Lucy Morello is the owner's representative.

Funding is coming from the Building Excellence IV and BTA IV programs.
