Worker dies at $147M N.Y. estate

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — A construction worker has fallen to his death at a $147 million oceanfront estate in East Hampton that's among the most expensive residential properties sold nationwide.

East Hampton Village police say worker Vitor Nobre tumbled while working Tuesday morning. Police Chief Jerry Larsen says Nobre fell about 12 feet from the second story onto a concrete floor.

A man who answered the phone at Nobre's Ronkonkoma home wouldn't comment.

Hedge fund founder Barry Rosenstein bought the 18-acre, elaborately landscaped property in 2014. Building officials say the owner has permits to construct a home and two other buildings.

Rosenstein's family says it's deeply saddened by the worker's death.
