SEATTLE — The Washington State Convention Center board yesterday picked a joint venture of Clark Construction and Lease Crutcher Lewis to build the $1.4 billion expansion under a GC/CM contract.
Two months ago, WSCC terminated a preconstruction agreement with a joint venture of Skanska and Hunt Construction Group. That resulted in a settlement for the contractor team of $7.8 million, according to an article in the Puget Sound Business Journal.
The Clark/Lewis team submitted the second-ranked proposal in the original selection process.
A WSCC news release says it will enter into a new preconstruction agreement with Clark/Lewis. A construction agreement will be signed when the maximum cost has been determined.
The addition is expected to break ground in 2017 and finish in 2020.
Clark is based in Maryland and Lewis is in Seattle.
