BREMERTON — Navy officials have approved plans for a new pier and support facilities at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Port Angeles that will be a forward staging area for submarine security vessels and crews traveling between Naval Base Kitsap and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The Navy said in a press release that the selected alternative includes a pile-supported pier a half mile east of the USCG Air Station Port Angeles, an onshore facility with offices and space for crews to rest, an armory, an above-ground fuel tank and distribution system, and utilities.
