The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington is converting an old warehouse in Marysville into a training facility with classrooms, labs and offices. The building at 3506 124th St. N.E. was previously used as a solar cell plant.

“CITC is expanding to deliver state-of-the-art training to meet the industry's workforce development demands,” said Halene Sigmund, CITC president and CEO in a news release. “Our goal is to help bridge the skilled workforce gap in the construction industry by delivering top notch training to those who want a career in this industry.”

The 26,660-square-foot space is expected to be finished next month, in time for winter classes for 75 students in the group's plumbing, electrical, carpentry and laborers programs. CITC is leasing the building.

Rhodes Architecture + Light is the designer and Alegis Construction is the general contractor.

CITC calls the location an important satellite campus for students living between north Seattle and the Canadian border. It will join campuses in Bellevue, Vancouver, Pasco and Spokane.

CITC provides state-approved apprenticeship and craft training in the carpentry, commercial electrical, residential electrical, low-energy electrical, HVAC, heavy equipment operator, laborers, painting, plumbing and sheet metal trades.

CITC also runs continuing education classes for license renewal for plumbers and electricians.
