Alaska welder finds niche fixing trailers

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Brett Rotermund at Bulletproof Trailers isn't really in the custom trailer fabrication business anymore. But his business has been so busy in the trailer repair world that he hasn't found the time to take the part about trailer fabrication off his business' sign.

Bulletproof started in the mid-1980s as the home garage business of Clay Campbell in North Pole. Today, the business is in a former auto body shop in the South Fairbanks industrial area. It has a yard filled with trailers that need repairs.
