The Crane

Photos by Jim Houston Photography [enlarge]

The Crane is a seven-story apartment building that opened in June at 1518 W. Dravus St. in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood.

The design, and name, were inspired by shipping and industrial activities in Interbay and at the Balmer rail yard.

The exterior is corrugated metal, and the outdoor stairway is covered by a bright orange accent wall.

There are 37 units ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, some with balconies. Each unit has laundry, air conditioning and dishwashers. The lobby has a cathedral ceiling and a custom, crane-inspired mural.

Amenities include a media room and a rooftop deck with a dog-walk area, fire pits and views of Elliott Bay and Fisherman’s Wharf.

Rents range from $1,475 to $2,795.

The project has been certified LEED gold, and includes green roofs, drought-tolerant landscaping and solar arrays.
