Viaduct closing for final inspection

SEATTLE — Washington State Department of Transportation is closing the Alaskan Way Viaduct this weekend for its final inspection before crews begin tearing down the structure early next year.

WSDOT began regular inspections of the aging viaduct after the 2001 Nisqually earthquake damaged it. This will be the 33rd inspection.
