Public works employees get a contractor's view of bidding

  • Mock bid program was designed to spur communication between the two groups during the bidding process.

    MIKE MYETTE, executive director of the Utility Contractors Association of Washington, has always wanted to help contractors and public employees understand each other's role in the bidding process. He got his chance in March with the first in an annual series of mock bids.

    “There's lots of misconceptions in what goes on in a bid,” he said. “I've always wanted to bring public works employees into the contractor's mind.”
