Permeable pavement can reduce storm runoff

When it rains, it pours -- off the nation's roofs, sidewalks, streets and parking lots. Then the water gushes into storm drains, streams, rivers and lakes, scouring out streambeds and fish habitat along the way. In the Northwest, flooding often follows.
