DALLAS (AP) -- American Electric Power said Monday it has acquired a 160-megawatt wind-power project in West Texas from a subsidiary of bankrupt Enron Corp. for $175 million.
Under the deal, AEP agreed to honor long-term contracts to sell power from the recently completed Indian Mesa project to City Public Service, San Antonio's municipal electric utility.
Under terms of the deal, Enron Wind Corp. will operate and maintain the wind-power project, located near Iraan, 45 miles east of Fort Stockton. Enron Wind was not included in the Dec. 2 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by Enron Corp. and more than a dozen subsidiaries.
